Love a Call To Obedience

CA115a13.blog These are perilous yet exciting days. We are on the verge of the greatest move of God ever. Already we are beginning to feel the rain of this coming storm of His Spirit. Over the years, I have heard many prophecies and talk about the coming revival. To be honest, for many years I began to doubt it. Then after much prayer the Lord spoke to me and began sharing with me regarding what He is about to do. I believe the revival will be a revolution, a love revolution. To fully understand love we must first understand authority. What has love got to do with authority? Everything! So stay with me as I lay the foundation.   The coming revival will be built upon a renewed understanding of true authority. When we talk about love, it is not the love the world talks about. It is the love that God IS and Jesus demonstrated through His life of obedience. Love demands and delivers obedience. So to understand love we must first understand obedience. I will prove my case on the fact that love and authority are connected later.   There are three ground rules on authority. First, authority requires obedience. Without obedience there is no authority. If I lay hands on the sick and they are not healed, I have no authority. We are called to walk with authority. The Great Commission provides us authority and we are meant to walk with that authority.   Secondly, authority requires that you are under authority. This principle is seen in the Garden before the Fall. When God creates, we see He is God over all creation except when it comes to man. In His every dealing with man – including man’s creation – He is Lord God. The Lord God gave man dominion under His dominion. This law is still in effect today and unless we walk under authority we have no authority.   Finally, the authority we are under and obedient to must back the authority given us. As believers we are given the Name of Jesus. When we walk in obedience to Him and we use the Name, the whole of heaven backs that Name. For so many they have wondered why the Name of Jesus seems to fail to work for them. We prayed in the Name and we did not get the results we expected. Well, we are either in disobedience or sin. James put it this way, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask with the wrong motives (or wickedly- which comes from not walking in total obedience), so that you can spend it on your pleasures.” (James 4: 3).   In this last hour the church will arise and walk victorious. We will manifest His kingdom and make known His Name or His authority on the earth. As it is written…   “In order that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 3: 10   The church is His voice of authority on the earth. We have been given His Name to advance His kingdom. But what does that all mean?   “Let every soul be subject to governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.” Romans 13: 1, 2     In my book on leadership I go into the subject of authority and obedience in more detail, but I do need to go a little deeper here so you better understand authority and its importance. When the devil fell, it was because he rebelled against the Lord’s authority. You see we either walk in obedience or rebellion. The devil wanted to usurp the Lord’s authority. When man fell he disobeyed God. As a consequence of the Fall, all creation was in chaos. Jesus came and emptied Himself of being God and walked as a man in radical and absolute obedience. Jesus would, through obedience, bring everything back under the authority of heaven. In Romans eight we discover that the whole of creation groans for the revealing of sons, that it longs for sons to rise up in radical obedience and bring back harmony that comes under the authority of heaven. Jesus was the perfect Son walking in total obedience to Daddy God. He is the example that we are to follow.   In looking at authority we must understand obedience and submission. Obedience, as we will see, is about conduct while submission is about the heart. Jesus walked in unqualified obedience to Daddy God and qualified obedience to man, but in all situations, submitted. Look at the situation where Jesus is on trial and He is challenged by the High Priest. Jesus was perfectly innocent and perfectly right. He is in absolute obedience to Daddy God yet He humbled Himself and walked in submission.   And the high priest stood up, and said unto Him, ‘Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?’ But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, ‘I put You under oath by the living God, Tell us if You are the Christ the Son of God!’ Jesus said to him, ‘It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you hereafter you will see the Son of Man, sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.” Matthew 26: 62-64   Read that carefully. Jesus answered the high priest because the high priest had authority but look what he said to Him. Jesus made a powerful declaration that must have caused the devil to quake.   Every act of God is issued from His throne and His throne is established on His authority and power. Everything was created by and through His authority. All the physical laws of this universe and beyond were created by and are upheld by His authority.   “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.” Colossians 1: 16   “Who, being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” Hebrews 1: 3   All things are upheld by the Word of His Power. We also discover that because of His complete obedience He was given the Name above all names. His Name carries absolute power.   “And being found the appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, That at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW, of those who are in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of the Father.” Ephesians 2: 8-11   At His Name every knee must bow and there is coming a day that every tongue will declare that all authority and dominion is His. This is the Name we have been given to use on the earth. What an awesome thing. But we the church must understand authority and how to walk in authority.   It is important to realize that sin against authority is sin against God. Authority is such an important thing to the Lord. We do not fully comprehend the importance of authority. If we truly want to serve Him and be part of what He is about to do, we must understand and surrender to His authority. The model that Satan operates under is violation of authority, which we also see called the mystery of lawlessness in the Word.

“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.

And then the lawless one will be revealed…”

2 Thessalonians 2: 6, 7

Now compare this to… “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” Matthew 24: 12   In this hour we must understand lawlessness is increasing and there are consequences. We live in a generation that is in rebellion. The devil has lied and deceived so many on evolution, for example. Why? If he eliminates God as the creator he eliminates the Lord as final authority. In our generation we see repeated attacks on the Law of Heaven. We also see the church watering down the Word and preaching things like hyper-grace. The danger of such teaching is to make Him Savior but not Lord. The attack again is on obedience to Him and His authority.   The devil does not care how fervently or how often you preach. He just does not want you to walk in obedience.   “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’” Matthew 7: 22, 23 At first glance what did these people do so wrong? They are casting out devils and working wonders all in the Name of Jesus. But Jesus states they are not walking under His authority. They are lawless. We so desperately want to be seen doing and active in ministry because we gain our sense of purpose from it. Yet we must understand our true sense of purpose must come from obedience. If we walk under His authority there should be a true holy fear. Too many today are building their ministry. They boast on great things and all the power they have. They share on the great wonders they have done and how they are in and out of heaven. It sounds so good and as we listen it is easy to think that they must be special and walk extremely closely with the Lord. We feel obligated to obey and follow them as they are in the Lord’s inner circle. As a result, no one truly listens to what they preach or test the fruit. Understand you can preach and work wonders according to Satan’s principle of rebellion. Remember, Satan will come as an angel of light.   We must eliminate all forms of rebellion and the principle of Satan in our life. Let us look at the prayer Jesus taught us to pray…

“Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

Your kingdom come

Your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven

Give us our daily bread

And forgive us our debts

As we forgive our debtors

And lead us not into temptation

But deliver us from the evil one

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen” Matthew 6: 9-13
